What additional costs should I plan for?

Round trip airfare to New Delhi is not included. I suggest tracking flights on airfarewatchdog.com to get the best price. Should you choose to fly from Delhi to Rishikesh instead of joining the group on the charter, you will be responsible for that cost. Beverages outside of coffee and chai will be at your own cost. During our travel days or excursions, you will be responsible for the cost of your meals. There is a spa located at the Sattva Center, with optional services for you to indulge in. Also gratuity for drivers and guides as well as any shopping you choose to do will be at your own expense. Dollars go much further in India, so many of these items can be had for a low cost. I usually reccomend $200 - $300 of spending money unless you plan to induldge in your shopping of Indian imports.

Visas are required for travel to India and need to be processed prior to your travels. You will select travel and tourism as your reason for traveling and put this address as the place you will stay during your time in India. The address for the Sattva Center is: Mohan Chatti (via Lakshman Jhula) Rishikesh Himalaya Uttarakhand Phone – 0819-1055551 Email – info@thesattva.com Upon signing up for the retreat, you'll recieve an in-depth guideline to help you easily maneuver the Visa application process.

Where is the best place for me to get my Visa?

Tra Visa (www.travisa.com) is the best place for United States citizens to get their Visa when traveling to India. It's not recommended to get an E-Visa.

The Visa application asks reason for travel; what should I put?

On the application, select travel and tourism as your reason for visiting India. Though we will be doing yoga, this is not a trip meant for education and selecting that option will result in the wrong type of Visa.

Is it okay if my passport expires right after we get back?

Do I need any immunizations before I travel?

This is completely up to each individual. The best suggestion I have for you is to talk with your primary care physican about your travel plans.

What about travelers insurance?

Travelers insurance is not required by Angie Hall Yoga or the Sattva Center, however it is always a safe option to consider when traveling.

Is it safe for me in India?

I have been to India many times and always feel safe when I am there. Northern India is one of the safest parts of the country for Westerners. We will have prearranged drivers, and cars with AC for our commutes through the country. I reccomended leaving all flashy or expensive jewelry at home, as not to call attention to yourself. Modest dress is also a must. Other than that, the best safety precaution is to exercise common sense as you would when traveling anywhere. Traffic is chaotic in India, so it is important to remain alert and aware when walking around. Also, the tap water is not safe to drink. It is best to avoid fruit from street vendors that may have been in contact with the tap water and to carry a water bottle at all times. The Sattva Center has a flitration system. Lastly, some of the bathroom facilities in India are much less sophisticated than what we are used too. To ensure comfort and cleanliness, it is a good idea to have toilet tissue and hand sanitzer in your day pack.

What is the weather like?

During November, it is generally sunny and warm with cooler temperatures in the mornings and evenings. You can expect highs in the 70's and 80's and lows in the 50's. Sometimes light rain occurs, but that is infrequent in November.

What is the time difference?

There is a 12.5 hour time difference between India and Arizona. We lose time on our way there, but gain time on the return.

If it’s my first time, am I likely to get sick?

Travel effects everyone differently. As previously stated, it is best to consult a phsycian before the trip. Also, doctors of natural medicine may be able to prescribe herbs in case of any stomach issues. Packing Pepto Bismol or your favorite alternative is also a good choice.

I have a partial conflict. Would it be possible to arrive late or leave early?

Yes. I understand that not everyone will be able to attend the full trip, but I would love to have you for as long as you are able to stay. Please contact me to work out the details if you need to arrive late or leave early.

What airport do I fly into?

The best choice is to fly into Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi. The direct flight from San Francisco on Air India is my favorite option, but any flight to New Delhi will do.

Other Questions

What should I pack?

After booking, I will send you a Welcome Packet with a complete packing list. Ideally, you want to pack light to make your travel days easy. Layers of light, airy clothes are ideal as well as clothing that is comfortable to practice yoga in. You will need a bathing suit, though normally women swim in thin yoga clothes. Scarves are great accessories for warmth and for modesty. Additionaly one or two sweaters for cooler weather, a light jacket, hat, sunglasses, under garments and toiletires. Walking/hiking shoes are needed as well as easy to slip on shoes for walking around the Sattva grounds. This is a conservative area, so no loud, revealing, or offensive clothing should be worn.

What type of clothing is appropriate for women in India?

When in public, women will need to cover their arms and wear ankle length clothing. At Sattva, yoga pants that fall under the near and modest short sleeve apparel is fine. Scarves make a great covering. Additionally, in place of a swimsuit, we usually wear thin yoga clothing.

Will there be access to laundry facilities?

There is a laundry service on site for a small fee. The turn around time for this service can be up to a week and under garments should not be included. Generally, we wash undergarments in the sink in our room and hang them to dry. You can wash your own clothes this way, as well, if you prefer.

Do I have to be an expert yogi to attend this retreat?

Absolutely not! This trip is open to people of all level and background. If you are interested in experiencing India, expanding your conciousness, and undergoing a personal transformation, you will undoubtedly enjoy this experience.
